The position of Material Handler supports production by physically receiving and moving materials, mostly sheet metal in a mid-sized manufacturing facility.
The role is responsible for controlling materials and ensuring they are stored in the correct locations.
This position ensures material is always properly identified and all paperwork stays with the material.
The role requires data entry of material receipts and material issues of inventory records into our ERP system, JobBOSS.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operates a forklift to load and unload large sized materials throughout the workday.
Helps control inventory by handling the receiving of materials, identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies into stock and recording transactions into a computer.
Help leadman organize work for each work department by ensuring timely delivery of raw material to each area with accurate quantity of material to the correct location.
Organizes and loads sheet stock material onto machines in exact order required.
Assists in taking physical counts of inventory and identifies items they require reorder.
Ensure dumpsters are emptied when required and are not overloaded.
Assist with breakout of parts as needed.
Supports general housekeeping of work areas.
Helps keep areas clean and ensures that inventory, tooling, and supplies are properly identified and correctly stored in proper location.
Other related duties as required.
Requirements:
Ability to always strictly follow safety policy and protocol.
Qualified, experienced, and secure operating a forklift throughout the workday.
Comprehension of basic inventory and material location principles
Ability to distinguish different types of materials: aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, and brass.
Must be well organized and possess a strong ability to focus on detail.
Basic computer skills and basic math skills
High school diploma or GED
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
Strong work ethic and willing to work overtime when required.
