The Group Sales & Corporate Event Manager drives and manages all sales activities related to Mystic Seaport Museum group visitation.
The Group Sales Manager handles all details and execution of corporate meeting business and special group events with the highest level of customer service.
The Manager also represents Mystic Seaport Museum in the travel and tourism industry with the goal of increasing visitation to the Mystic Seaport Museum as well as expanding the awareness of the mission of Mystic Seaport Museum.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Raise Museum’s profile both nationally and internationally through tourism and travel groups by attending and taking business appointments at trade shows and other marketing opportunities Promote commercial and affinity sales; respond to requests for information by phone and email.
Identify and promote areas to increase visitation Proactively sell/up-sell products to provide the best experience for our guests and maximize revenue.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with local hotels, restaurants, attractions, and other local tourism partners with monthly communication.
Develop and execute marketing plans, sales presentations, displays and other collateral with Marketing team.
Manage community outreach efforts including Museum familiarization tours for local, national and international hospitality and travel professionals.
Create proposals for meeting and event business based on client needs and goals, working closely with catering team when applicable to ensure highest quality event.
Execute exceptional on-site meetings and group itineraries for clients and lead team in execution of onsite events with the highest standards of customer service.
Manage annual budget and meet set sales goals by reporting monthly and quarterly results.
Manage Museum membership and subscriptions fees with tourism trade organizations Communicate booking information clearly to Reservations Team for entry into Tessitura POS Coordinate with Volunteer Coordinator to train and schedule greeters for commercial tour operators.
Track, analyze, and communicate key quantitative metrics and business trends as they relate to group sales and tourism partner relationships.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: B.

degree, 2-5 years’ experience in hospitality, travel sales and/or marketing Excellent public speaking, presentation and organizational skills Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed for events, projects or to accomplish work at hand.
Able to travel extensively Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Familiarity with Mystic Seaport Museum experiences and programs Familiarity with Tessitura POS and CRM platform
