We are agile, innovative and our goal is to collect proceeds to benefit the programs, concerts and children's activities of the Chorus of Westerly.

Our work environment includes: * Casual work attire *POSITION: Associate I REPORTING TO: Manager, The Blue Mitten* *SCOPE:* Under the direction of the Manager, the Associate I is responsible for providing excellence in day-to-day operations of The Blue Mitten Thrift Shop including, but not limited to, taking in donations, customer service functions, inventory and evaluations, as outlined below.
The Associate I is responsible to uphold what is in the best interest of the organization’s mission.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* An Associate I must possess the ability to: * contribute to a positive, collaborative work culture * provide an exceptional customer service experience at all times, building quality customer relationships that result in increased sales, donations, and repeat business.
* be organized and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
* manage their time well and problem solve.
* operate point of sale systems and make financial transactions of various tenders, accepts payments and makes change.
* assist with inventories to ensure the sales floor is up to date and sales prices are reflective of the current market.
* adhere to the current, effective Blue Mitten Policies and Procedures.
* to ensure that appropriate visual displays, merchandise and signage are set to specified standards, including social media and website communications, as applicable.
* communicate effectively and in a timely manner with peers, volunteers, management and when appropriate the Board * work independently * perform other duties as assigned.
*ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:* * Trash removal and general housekeeping is performed on a frequent basis.
* Maintains a safe environment for peers, volunteers, and customers.
* Keeps the facility organized and ensures all emergency exits shall remain unobstructed at all times, to ensure an overall clean, safe, hazard-free work space.
* Ensures any ancillary spaces, such as storage units are kept clean and are well organized.
* Issues encountered with lighting, heating, A/C, plumbing, etc.
are promptly communicated to management and the Board in written form * Is responsible for the timely opening and closing of the store, per current store hours * Balances the cash till and safe and prepares deposits.
Conducts other monetary duties, as required.
* Ensures the Manager and Board are made immediately aware of any accidental occurrence(s) that may happen to staff, volunteer, customer or other person(s) on The Blue Mitten premises.
* Ensures applications for potential staff and volunteers are promptly submitted to Management for Personnel Committee review.
To perform this job successfully, the Associate I must be able to perform each essential function.
*BASIC REQUIREMENTS:* High School diploma or equivalent, required.
Perform basic math and financial skills, required.
Previous retail experience, minimum 2 years, preferred.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, preferred.
Proficiency in the use of computer software to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and proficiency in the use of various social media platforms, preferred.
Proficiency in register transactions via Square platform and have ability to adapt to new technology.
Must have a safety-first mentality.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands for various tasks; reach with hands and arms; and be able to utilize appropriate methods of communication with staff, volunteers and customers.
Position requires walking and standing 95% of the time and ability to bend, lift and carry merchandise up to 40 lbs.

Job Type: Part-time Pay: $16,600.
00 - $20,960.
