Winter 2024, Old Saybrook, CT.
Hello and Thank You for looking at my Architect’s Resume.
Let me provide you with more detail than the milestones on it.
This spring, after 37 years in California, my husband and I moved to his hometown of Old Saybrook, CT.
I graduated in 1987 from the University of Minnesota’s School of Architecture.
I was one of those rare students who received straights A’s on my thesis from 4 faculty members, and C’s from two others.
I quickly moved to the San Francisco Bay Area.
In 1997 I became a registered California Architect, passing all sections at my first time.
Over the past 4 decades, I have been employed by small to medium sized architecture firms, specializing in custom residences, production homes, and small infill commercial projects.
In the last two decades, my role as Project Architect has provide my opportunities interacting directly with Design Review Boards, Planning Commissions and Building Departments.
As an Office Manager at Talon Design Group and as an Independent Architect (sole proprietor) my direct contact with new clients, from start to finish.
During the 4 years at Talon, my responsibilities included leading weekly office meetings, oversaw work flow and distribution of projects.
The firm was awarded two PCBC Gold Nugget Awards in 2007, under my marketing strategist.
Because of the Great Recession, I personally had to let go of the six employees that I initially hired over the years.
The firm did not survive.
Since then, I have been successful as Sole Practictionier since then.
My projects have ranged from a restoration of 1887 House in Santa Cruz, which received an award from the City of Santa Cruz, additions and remodels of single-family homes, to Planning a Conscience Community in Middletown, CA.
Even though I am proficient in DataCAD for presentation, submittals and contract documents, I occasionally used AutoCAD over the decades.
For the past 20 years I have orchestrated team members in Sketch-Up, AutoCAD, Vectorworks.
In 2015, I spent 5 days in a REVIT class, but never able to use it beyond the class.
I envision my long-term professional goals as a well-established boutique architectural firm in the Eastern Connecticut area.
For you consideration, I have compiled a PDF of my design and management history, showing my versatility and breadth of work.
Respectfully,
Tim Lorenz, Architect
