Assistant Professor - Environmental and Natural Resource Economics Search #: 497939 Work type: Full-time Location: Storrs Campus Categories: Faculty Tenure Track INTRODUCTION The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Connecticut, within the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank.
Successful candidates will contribute to the mission of the University and College through research and teaching portfolios that address issues in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics.
The Department is especially interested in applicants with a research focus on Energy.
This is a full-time, 9-month tenure-track position with 50% teaching and 50% research appointment.
The anticipated start date is August 23, 2024.
The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to: Develop a high-quality grant-funded research program, publish in leading academic journals, and actively participate in national and international academic conferences in energy, environmental, and/or resource economics as well as other fields in applied economics and economics.
Share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels and mentoring of students leading to their professional development.
Broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate a commitment to and support of, diversity in the learning experience through research, teaching, and/or public engagement; and integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools.
Contribute to a collegial and welcoming atmosphere for all members of the Department to grow and thrive professionally.
The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Connecticut is part of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach three courses per year at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the economics of environmental and natural resources.
Serve as advisor and mentor to undergraduate and graduate students.
Develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program in the economics of environmental and natural resources, with a focus on areas of growing societal importance and need, analyzing issues in energy, climate change, and local and global environmental sustainability.
Secure external funding to support graduate student research.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ph.
D.
in agricultural and resource economics (or related field) or economics.
The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date.
Excellent training in microeconomic theory and quantitative methods.
Demonstrated trajectory of nationally and internationally recognized research in energy, environmental, and/or resource economics.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Strong publication record and teaching experience in energy, environmental, and/or resource economics.
Demonstrated ability to secure extramural grants.
Participation in large coordinated interdisciplinary research projects for addressing social challenges.
APPOINTMENT TERMS This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with 50% teaching and 50% research appointment.
The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus.
Faculty may also be asked to teach at one of UConn’s regional campuses as part of their ordinary workload.
The anticipated start date is August 23, 2024.
Salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
